Dear Messiah Family,
When one member of a family is hurting, we all hurt. If you are following Amanda Richard’s Caring Bridge page you know that later this morning she will be having surgery to insert a titanium rod in her leg before they begin radiation of her femur. I reached out to Pastor Steve yesterday and asked how the Messiah family could support them and he said that prayers are the best way to do that. I said, “You got it!” Please be in prayer for Amanda, her medical team, Pastor Steve and their family today for a successful surgery and relief of pain.
In reading Amanda’s newest post, you’ll see her comment and delight about the doctor’s taco themed socks. This sparked an idea of another way we can support them. You are invited to bring one pair of funny, pretty, interesting, unique or inspiring socks between now and next Wednesday (March 29) that will be bundled up and delivered to Amanda. (Novelty socks can be found at gift shops and even at Target!) It is our hope that the socks will make her smile, keep her feet warm and also remind her and Steve that their Messiah family walks this walk with them. You can leave your socks in the labeled bin in the atrium.
This Sunday
Back in the fall when our newly elected bishop, Reverend Dr. Lanette Plambeck introduced herself to the Minnesota clergy, she enthusiastically said, “Invite me to your church!” And so, we did. This Sunday Bishop Lanette will bring us the next message in our Luke series with a message titled Five Days Before the Crucifixion. In the final week of Jesus’s life, his teachings and encounters with others express what matters most to him. Having heard her preach a couple of times already, I know we will be blessed by her message. If you are in town and able, may I ask that you plan to attend worship in person? I’d love for us to show up can give Bishop Lanette a big, warm and enthusiastic Messiah welcome. It will be a grand day and I hope that you can be a part of it, either in person or online!

6th Annual Cocoa Cafe
A few weeks ago, I shared a message with you about how God uses the very old and the very young in mission and ministry. Tomorrow, I invite you to support some of our very young, Ashley and Emily, as they host their 6th annual Cocoa Cafe in their driveway at 12515 25th Ave N, Plymouth, 55441. Over the past 6 years, these two sisters have raised over $10,000 in support of MN Food Share Month. Every penny they raise goes directly to our area food shelves. My husband, Jerry, our dog, Jack and I are planning to be there. I hope to see you there too. If you cannot attend but would like to support these sisters, you can write a check to Messiah Church and put “Cocoa Cafe” in the memo. We’ll make sure they get it.
In Christ’s love,
Please Pray with Me
God of Love, we give you thanks and praise for your steadfast mercy, love and grace. Through faith, we trust that you are with us in all of life’s transitions and change. We trust in your goodness and know that with each ending comes new beginnings. So, come, Holy Spirit, come. Guide, strengthen, and encourage us on the journey that lies before our Messiah Church family. It’s the assurance of your unfailing love which enables us to trust you in every season of life. May your Word dwell in us richly, your peace rule in us powerfully, and may your glory be our main passion and greatest delight. In the powerful and precious name of Jesus we pray. Amen.
