On Monday, January 15, 306 people gathered at the Medina Entertainment Center to assemble and pack 5,182 health kits for hurricane victims in Puerto Rico. While many participants were Messiah members, up to half were not from our church. Yet all gathered to honor the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. by serving. The atmosphere was festive with the joy of service, lifted up by the music of World Beat Connection and the words of Mauri Melander, principal of Lucy Laney Elementary Community School in North Minneapolis. Thanks to all who organized the event, as well as all who participated.
