Main Objective: To grow disciples through worship that is invitational, inspirational and helps people grow in their love of God.
Goals:
- Oversee contemporary and traditional worship; supervise musicians, tech staff, and volunteers; and provide an excellent worship experience in person and online.
- Nurture a culture of worship where every person is welcomed into our community, invited into a relationship with God, and equipped to grow in that relationship.
- Coordinate with all ministry departments to encourage participation in Sunday morning worship.
- Coordinate and develop musicians to enhance our music ministry in the life of the church.
- Grow as a disciple and encourage others in the path of discipleship by loving God, loving each other, and loving the world.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and execute worship, including: Sunday traditional, Sunday contemporary, online worship, Church on the Go podcast, and special worship services.
- Supervise, recruit, and coordinate worship staff and volunteers, including: accompanist, choir & hand bell directors, worship band, and tech team. This position is responsible for directing and leading rehearsals for the contemporary worship band.
- Manage the production of the pre-service video announcements such as MGN (Messiah’s Good News) and ATM (All Things Messiah).
- Manage worship staff scheduling, payroll, and budget.
- Collaborate with pastors and program staff, including weekly staff meetings.
- Coordinate with program staff and collaborating on special events, such as: community events, and seasonal kids and youth music programs.
- Oversee and evaluate all worship experiences, assuring high quality, consistency with the vision and mission of the church, and providing music that is appropriate for the liturgical seasons and worship theme.
- As needs become apparent, develop new worship opportunities that align with mission and vision of church.
- Extend hospitality and welcome to all persons, adhering to our Statement of Inclusion and church mission.
- When it aligns with Messiah organizational objectives, produce and direct musical productions within budget as a tool for outreach and community building.
Skills
- Preference given to persons with ability to play piano or guitar.
- Ability to build and lead a cohesive team.
- Experience in the recruitment and hiring of musicians.
- A passion for worship and a desire to create meaningful, creative worship experiences.
- Familiarity or willingness to learn: ProPresenter, Planning Center Online (or similar), Microsoft Office.
This is a full-time, salaried position with benefits. Direct accountability to the Associate Pastor. This position provides supervision for all other music and worship staff.
