Baptisms & Weddings
Planning Your Wedding
We are pleased that you are considering Messiah Church for your wedding! We want to help make your wedding as beautiful and meaningful as possible. All weddings at our church require the involvement of one of our church’s clergy as the officiating pastor and a wedding coordinator. The pastor will work with you to design your wedding service, and the wedding coordinator will be in charge of and direct all rehearsals and your wedding. All couples being married here attend pre-marriage counseling provided by our pastors.
Prior to setting the date at Messiah, we would like you to worship and connect with us several times before making the decision to have your wedding at Messiah. We want you to be comfortable and find a connection here. Heather Felt, Messiah’s Director of Community Engagement, can help you become familiar with others and help make those connections.
For more information about planning a wedding at Messiah, call the church office at (763) 473-6968.
Baptisms
Who should be baptized?
People of all ages can be baptized at Messiah. Non-members are encouraged to seek membership as soon as possible after being baptized. We baptize by sprinkling Holy Water and making the sign of the cross on the forehead with anointing oil to invite the presence of the Holy Spirit. We recognize baptisms from other faiths and churches and therefore do not re-baptize people.
When do baptisms occur?
Baptisms occur during select worship services throughout the year. To schedule a baptism, contact the church office at (763) 473-6968 for a specific date. You will also schedule a time to meet with a pastor in the week prior to the baptism to get acquainted, learn the meaning of baptism, and walk through the experience. We record videos of the baptisms and provide a copy to the family as well as a baptismal certificate.
